Comparison order — Comparison and alternatives
Order can affect an observer’s reference point. A comparison record should preserve the actual sequence and the intended comparison question.
Scope and purpose
Compare alternatives using the same question and context. A difference in wording, layout or scale is not automatically a difference in performance. Keep the original observations available and explain which differences are meaningful for this comparison.
Working notes
This atlas connects descriptive vocabulary, observation context and reference-sheet design. All example records are synthetic and exist to explain a method of documentation; they do not represent tested batches, product ratings or scientific results. The diagrams are original editorial graphics. Descriptions of perceived character are kept separate from ingredient, origin, health and certification claims. Read definitions and scale anchors before comparing records.
Practical example
Display the sequence beside the notes rather than rearranging samples after observation.

| Limits and interpretation | A single sequence cannot establish that order effects were controlled. |
Review checklist
State the comparison question; align context and labels; list common features separately from differences; leave unsupported conclusions open.
